Dr. MacDowell is originally from Moraga, Ca. and completed her undergraduate degree at UC Davis majoring in animal science. While in school she gained experience in the field as a veterinary technician before attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine where she received her veterinary degree. Dr. MacDowell attended Colorado State University for her clinical year of veterinary school and there she became certified in medical acupuncture and laser therapy. Her special interests in veterinary medicine include emergency, critical care and internal medicine. Most recently, Dr. MacDowell worked at a 24 hour clinic in California where she was able to uncover her love of emergency medicine.
Outside of work she enjoys hiking and being outdoors with her two dogs, Joey and Scarlett. Joey was rescued from a shelter in California and Scarlett was found as a puppy on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean.
