24/7 Emergency & Critical Care
Sierra Blauvelt, DVM, grew up training and competing in alpine skiing in Montana and Utah. She entered the world of veterinary medicine in New York in 2002 while working as a surgery and emergency veterinary technician at Long Island Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Blauvelt earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 2012. Knowing that emergency medicine and management of critical care patients is her passion, she went on to complete a small animal internal medicine and surgery rotating internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital followed by a one year emergency and critical care internship involving soft tissue emergency surgery and remained on their team as a senior emergency and critical care doctor since 2014 until joining the 24/7 emergency team at Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialists’ Boulder location. Although Dr. Blauvelt’s post graduation training is small animal focused she grew up on a farm and intentionally pursued additional training in veterinary school to encompass large animal, small ruminants and exotics and is willing to see any animal whom is in need of urgent medical attention.
Dr. Blauvelt is a lover of the great outdoors and deep, off-the-grid back country spending most of her free time skiing, climbing, biking and skydiving. She has a small motley crew family of pets that she obtained during her emergency work and join her in one way or another on her adventures.
